Тішимося, що заклик допомогти з виданням про шедевр з музейної колекції – Золоту пектораль – привернув увагу і за кордоном. Тому публікуємо інформацію про збір й англійською.
Нас часто запитують, чи є в музеї сучасне, детальне видання коштовності своєї колекції, золотої скіфської пектораль. Над цим вже давно працюють науковці скарбниці Національного музею історії України. А сьогодні ми готові анонсувати цей життєво важливий проект.
We are often asked if the museum has a modern, detailed edition of the gem of its collection, the gold Scythian pectoral. Scholars of the Treasury of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine have been working on this for a long time. And today, we are ready to announce this vital project.
“The Mysterious World of the Pectoral” is a 152-page, full-colour, richly illustrated publication in Ukrainian and English. The issue tells about the archaeologist and poet Borys Mozolevskyi, who discovered the gold pectoral to the world, and about the excavation of Tovsta Mohyla kurgan, where this masterpiece of ancient art was found in 1971.
It also features essays on:
milestones in the history of the Scythians;
the peculiarities of pectoral manufacturing and the symbolism of its images;
the likely owner of the jewellery;
the modern perception of this unique ancient goldwork.
The issue contains many illustrations and diagrams, supplemented by a list of literature and information about international exhibitions where the pectoral was presented.
Interest in Ukrainian history and culture is growing rapidly. We must present our cultural heritage in a language understandable to the world. That is why “The Mysterious World of the Pectoral” is bilingual, in Ukrainian and English. It will be an excellent gift for foreigners.
The planned print run is 1,000 copies. The estimated cost of publishing such an edition is 250,000 UAH (6,750 USD or 6,128 EUR).
For the issue to see the light of day, we invite you to become patrons of the museum’s publishing project! After all, in this challenging time, the museum is not able to pay for the printing of the book on its own.

For a donation of more than 10,000 UAH (270 USD or 245 EUR), you will receive a large silk scarf with pectoral motifs,

from 5,000 UAH (135 USD or 123 EUR) – large white twilly scarf,
